Punk rock band Sum 41 disbanded

Sum 41 has been around since 1996, but the punk rock band will soon break up. The group has now announced this on their Instagram account, among other things.

Playing in the band for so many years, the musicians around founder and vocalist Deryck Whibley have delivered some “of the best moments of our lives”. “We will always be grateful to our old and new fans who have supported us in every way possible,” the band writes, making it clear: “Sum 41 is breaking up.”

The band’s breakthrough came with their debut album “All Killer No Filler”, which was released on May 8, 2001 – 22 years to the day. Her most famous song “Fat Lip” is also from the record. But singles like “Still Waiting” from the following year also became a success.

Anyone who wants to see the group live again will have the chance to do so in a few weeks. Sum 41 plays at various festivals in Europe. In Germany the band performs in Rock am Ring and Rock im Park. The two festivals will take place from 2 to 4 June at the Nürburgring and in Nuremberg. In August and September, The Offspring and Simple Plan will also be on the “Let the Bad Times Roll Tour” in the US.

Apparently there should be another tour – and a new album is also on the way. “We will still be doing all of our scheduled tour dates this year and we are looking forward to releasing our latest album ‘Heaven:x: Hell’ – alongside one last worldwide tour to celebrate,” said Tape.
