Not far from Thurgau’s main town of Frauenfeld, Kartause Ittingen is impressive evidence of a centuries-old Carthusian monastery. Lugano’s local mountain (1704 meters) is now adorned with a building made by Ticino’s star architect Mario Botta, bearing the poetic name Fiore di pietra, meaning stone flower.
