After “Rambo” and “Rocky”, fans of the action icon can look forward to another Sly hit comeback. “Cliffhanger” was one of the biggest blockbusters of 1993 with a production cost of $70 million and a worldwide gross of $255 million.
The direction goes along Rick Roman Waugh a true professional in the field. Because in recent years the Californian has repeatedly delivered brutal, action-packed thrillers with a star cast, such as “Snitch – A Risky Deal” with Dwayne Johnson or “Greenland” and “Angel Has Fallen” with Gerard Butler. And that’s exactly where he should probably continue with “Cliffhanger 2” – albeit only after his next two butler actors “Kandahar” and “Greenland 2”.
The script is coming according to Hunters and Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt For The Bones writer Mark Bianculli. It is still unknown who will appear in front of the camera next to Stallone. The castings are already underway. A theatrical release is not expected before 2024.

There are no further details on whether the sequel will now replace the remake that has been planned for several years. We already reported on plans for a new edition in 2014, and further details about a possible remake starring Jason Momoa came in 2020 – before the project went silent again.
