“I didn’t feel comfortable at school. I felt that what we were learning at that time would not be useful in my life. change the model education, that was my dream,” he recalls.

Today, the cause that started in 2011 has grown into a non-profit organization that has a significant impact in Spanish-speaking countries by creating free online courses for students, partly with the help of solutions huawei clouda leading global provider of digital infrastructure.

Johel He said his foundation has partnered with some private companies because they largely share the idea of transforming the world through education powered by digital technologies. Huawei provided its cloud services for free to the Ayudinga Foundation for three years.

Johel Batista has been contributing to the Ayudinga Foundation for years.

The idea of creating a platform for online courses started in 2011 when Johel was still a student. He said he experienced educational learning challenges during that time.

“The first difficulty I noticed was that my colleagues had a negative cognitive bias towards the field STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)mainly mathematics, which is the basic foundation since the focus that teachers give in the traditional education system is memorizing content and formulas and mechanically solving book problems,” he said.

“We still have to come up with an exact approximation to put it into context or contextualize learning acquired in the classroom, always under the question of why and how can I apply what I learn in everyday life?” said Johel.

Johel also decided to develop content in video format and try to achieve economies of scale by using digital technologies that allow educational material to reach millions of people.

The foundation began to gather more people interested in its existence volunteers and commit to the development of a quality, free and inclusive education system.

“We’ve all been through the same or similar situations where we don’t feel identified with the educational reality we’re experiencing. That’s why cooperation with the Ayudinga Foundation, which has had clear values since its inception, becomes a mechanism of transformation,” he adds.

A cloud platform that offers Huawei Free, he made a difference not only in the expansion of the Ayudinga Foundation, but also empowered it with additional tools that allowed the foundation to store a large amount of data and use it to make the courses more attractive.

“The first thing we do when we design ours educational content is to analyze the target market that is aimed at in order to adapt it to the needs that are shown and visible through the macro trends in the consumption of digital content that students use every day”, explained Johel.

“Our biggest challenge when it comes to content creation free educational is to connect with the learner and get them to connect with the information we want to convey, especially in such a changing world where the hyper-information age is a reality,” he said.

“Using technology to solve educational problem in Latin America is becoming a fundamental element in the transformation process we are experiencing, as it allows us to connect and share knowledge among more students around the world, creating learning opportunities that were not possible before,” added Johel.

Johel said he saw Artificial Intelligence (AI)) is a step in a positive direction as it helps to understand the root causes of educational problems by allowing a deeper analysis.

The Ayudinga Foundation had strong support from the education sector Government of Panamaled by its Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, who mentioned that the change that traditional education needs so much is to connect more with the new generations.
