‘Almost Normal’ arrives at the National Theater

If you are a fan of theater, we tell you that in the month of June, the musical “Almost Normal” will be on stage.

One of the most internationally acclaimed musicals, an award winner Pulitzer and three awards Tony, arrives at the National Theater for the first time.

The work arrives to present the painful and heartbreaking story of a woman who struggled with her bipolar disorder for 16 years, conveying to the public the harsh reality of this spirit that haunts many people today.

Alpha Productions and T.National Theatre bring to the stage this modern work intended for a diverse and young audience.

It’s about a family that, between anxiety, angst and desperation to become a “normal” family, struggles every day with mother Diane Goodman’s bipolar diagnosis and the impact it has on her, her husband and their children.

In the main role Juliette Roy, this musical rockwith poems by the author Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey’s bookis an exceptional mix of drama and rock that binds us to the harsh reality of its characters, and at the same time shakes us with its sharp and accurate sense of humor when it touches on topics such as: grief, suicide, abuse of psychotropic drugs and the constant pressure to be “almost normal” .

One of contradictions that humanity has always had it is its ability to demand standards of supposed “normality” that are impossible to achieve because of the very system of values and beliefs it generates.

The musical is a proposal with a strong critique of the system and the constant social pressure to which we are often exposed.

The production will be presented solo 6 performances, from June 6 to 11, 2023.

“Almost Normal” will be directed by César Robles and José ‘Pepe’ Casis, with a cast of some of the best voices
of musical theater in the country: Juliette Roy, Julio Chamorro, Ana Gretel Solís, Simón Tejeira, Juan Diego Arauz Malek and Odette Versailles.
