New to Amazon Prime Video, Johnny Depp hides a deadly secret in this sci-fi thriller

If you’re in the mood for a star-studded sci-fi thriller, make sure to bookmark The Astronaut’s Wife on Amazon Prime Video. The movie is also known as “The Astronaut’s Wife” and is now available with a Prime subscription at no extra cost. You can look forward to stars like Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron, and a mysterious story with horror twists along the lines of Rosemary’s Baby.

And that’s what The Astronaut’s Wife is all about: Astronaut Spencer Armacost (Johnny Depp) is on a mission in space with his colleague Alex Streck when contact with the control center is briefly lost. After returning, the two surprisingly declare that they want to leave NASA and take on new jobs. As if that wasn’t strange enough, Alex, who was actually perfectly healthy, died a short time later.

Spencer Armacost takes a job with a defense contractor in New York. Soon after, his wife Jullian (Charlize Theron) discovers she is pregnant – with twins. But she can’t be really happy because she notices strange changes in her husband and can’t make sense of it. But she soon discovers Spencer’s gruesome and deadly secret…

Is “The Astronaut’s Wife” Worth It?

The story of the movie actually sounds exciting, but check out the international reviews on the rating aggregation site shows: Despite Hollywood stars and a sci-fi setting, “The Astronaut’s Wife” doesn’t really knock your socks off – the average rating is only 37 out of 100 possible points.

In terms of content, the comparison with the horror classic “Rosemaries Baby” is perhaps appropriate, but in terms of tension, apples are compared with pears. Because, unlike Roman Polanski’s cult movie, the Johnny Depp vehicle rarely manages to create real excitement – and even though it’s been a while since the author of this article saw “The Astronaut’s Wife,” she can also remember the predictability still remember well.

Nevertheless: the mysterious mood is firmly conveyed, the visuals of the thriller are also decent. So if you’re in the mood for star-studded cinema that doesn’t put too much strain on your brain cells, take a look.
