At the 2023 Star Wars Celebration in London, series creator Tony Gilroy announced: If all goes well with the production, should be the second season ofStar Wars: Andor‘ will launch on Disney+ in August 2024. It will be not only the second, but also the last season of the “Star Wars” series about Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) – the series started from the very beginning with a very clear plan: to tell the events, which then lead directly into the 2016 movie “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”.
Season 1 of “Andor” has been exciting so far. More of a dark political thriller than a playful space adventure, the heavily staged series brings a breath of fresh air to the “Star Wars” universe. And how it goes on in season 2, on that we were able to take a look at the Star Wars Celebration ourselves – Than A first teaser trailer showing scenes from the new episodes, which will be filmed until August 2023, was shown exclusively for the audience in attendance.
Trailer description of “Andor” season 2
By the end of Season 1, Cassian Andor had finally joined the rebel movement centered around Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgard). In the trailer for four years spanning season 2 we now get a glimpse of what to expect for Cassian and the other characters during this time. Among other things, of course Genevieve O’Reilly’s Mon Motma to be seen saying in one scene, “If we don’t stand together, we’ll be crushed.”
Also Siril Karn (Kyle Soller) seen in the trailer, he continues to work for the Empire, but is now wearing a different, more meaningful-looking uniform than he did in Season 1. He may now have a new rank. Syril’s mom will also be back in season 2, as well as Dedra Meero (Denise Gaw).
In one scene a romantic rapprochement between Cassian and Bix (Adrian Arjona) indicated. Ferrix is also back as a backdrop, where the situation between the inhabitants and the henchmen of the realm seems to come to a head. All in all, the thrilling trailer makes it clear that things are really simmering in the galaxy far, far away, and for Andor’s main characters, it really is is at stake.
Interestingly, Luthen Rael doesn’t appear in the trailer (that is, if we haven’t lost track of it), even if Skarsgard is part of the cast of season 2, which, as I said, spans the long four-year span – a lot can happen. In a scene at the very end of the trailer it seems that Cassian now fills a similar role to Luthen, namely as a double agent on the political scene of the Coruscant glare. Because Cassian wears elegant clothes and a slick hairdo, a look we’ve mostly seen in Coruscant’s high society scenes so far.
It has long been known how the story will be divided in season 2 of “Star Wars: Andor”: the season again consists of 12 episodes. Three episodes each cover a year of the story.
