After the third season of “The Mandalorian” on Disney + has just ended, the following “Star Wars” projects are coming into the focus of fans. On the small screen, that will be Ahsoka from August 2023 – and then on the big screen soon (perhaps as early as late 2025?) the continuation of the Skywalker saga, aka Star Wars: Episode 10. Fifteen years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker will see Rey (Daisy Ridley) attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order – possibly getting familiar reinforcements in the process.
On their podcast The Hot Mic, Hollywood insiders Jeff Sneider and John Rocha talked about the latest rumors surrounding Star Wars 10 from director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy – and revealed that John Boyega to return in his role as Fin. According to Sneider, pre-production on the film should begin in August 2023, after which general casting will likely take place. According to colleague Rocha, negotiations with John Boyega in particular have already started.
John Boyega could return – so it’s a big deal
Rocha claims to have learned from two of his sources that Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy and John Boyega had “buried the hatchet” and Boyega’s return to the franchise is now an option again. As a reminder, Boyega has repeatedly criticized the way he handled his character Finn in the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy and his overall experience with the franchise.
Be past that point according to Roche gone now, and so Finn could have a future in the Star Wars franchise – which wouldn’t surprise us at all. It makes sense that Rey is still in touch with her former castmates 15 years after Episode 9, and they’ll be back in Star Wars 10. We wouldn’t be surprised if Oscar Isaac also returns as Poe Dameron.
Speaking of rumors: that’s why there was no “helmetless Din Djarin”
However, official confirmations are still pending. Speaking of rumors, Jeff Sneider also delivered a first for the third season of “The Mandalorian”: Presumably a scene from Pedro Pascal scheduled without a helmet in the season finale. But it had to be canceled due to scheduling conflicts – Pascal was also shooting the first season of the video game adaptation “The Last Of Us” at the same time and this commitment was a priority for him. So he supposedly couldn’t travel to the set of The Mandalorian to give us a helmetless Din Djarin in Chapter 24.
