The fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” is still a long way off, we don’t expect the sequel before early 2024. Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of “Stranger Things”, don’t seem to be taking a break even after production ends. In any case, new projects are already planned.
Now Netflix has announced that the Duffer brothers are working on another series for the streamer – and with some pretty interesting colleagues! Together with the creators ofThe Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance”, Jeffrey Addis And Will Matthewsthe Duffers are working on the new series”The districts”. This should appeal to fans of fantasy adventures and heroic stories alike.
These are the districts
Unfortunately, Netflix hasn’t revealed many details about “The Boroughs” just yet. The eight episodes are about a group of misfits who have to become heroes, as a scenic retirement community in the New Mexico desert is ravaged by an alien threat. The attackers are mainly after one thing that the inhabitants of the desert city do not have: time.
It actually sounds quite original and promising and the Duffers, Addis and Matthews say they are very excited about the project. Matt and Ross Duffer explained that after the pitch they realized very quickly that Addis and Matthews had presented them with a very special idea. The Duffers will produce the mystery series, while Addis and Matthews serve as showrunners and writers on The Boroughs.
It is not yet known when “The Boroughs” will be available on Netflix. In addition to working on a Stranger Things play, the Duffers are also currently working on a cartoon series set in the Stranger Things universe that will be styled into shows like GI Joe and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
