The hyper-stylish action movie “John Wick: Chapter 4” was released in German cinemas on March 23 and has been bravely beating the competition ever since. So far, the infallible Keanu Reeves has attracted almost 1.4 million people to the cinemas in Germany – an absolute top value! But the film also inspires cinemagoers internationally: As of now, the film has grossed a total of $349.7 million at the international box office. That’s a great result for an R-rated action film – even though “John Wick: Chapter 4” is also the most expensive installment in the series to date, with an estimated production cost of $100 million.
With these figures, the action hit has now broken another record, making it the most successful entry in the series at the international box office. In comparison, while “John Wick” was almost an insider tip among genre fans in 2014 with a gross of $86 million, “John Wick: Chapter 2” was able to more than double that result in 2017 and had sales of nearly $171.00. .5 million. Released in 2019, “John Wick: Chapter 3” marked the series’ previous peak of $327.7 million, which has now been discontinued by its successor.

Given such numbers, the question of a new sequel naturally arises – even if “John Wick: Chapter 4” ended pretty clearly. Joe Drake, head of “John Wick” studio Lionsgate, has already spoken to the American industry magazine in view of the strong box office start explains that a sequel is not completely ruled out. When asked about the ending of the series, Drake explained: “There is a will and an opportunity. And you can certainly interpret that ending in different ways.”
Everyone involved might take a little hiatus at first, but then they play off different ideas to see if there’s a believable way to make a fifth film after all – though there’s no guarantee there’s going to be another installment.
