Hostesses at the Latin Women Gala

Reggaeton singer Ivy Queen and Mexican actress Jacqueline Bracamontes will host the Latin Women in Music Gala, organized by Billboard magazine and the Telemundo channel, an event that honors the “contributions of Hispanic women in the music industry.”

The music magazine and TV channel announced in Spanish that the gala will be held on May 6 in Miami and will honor Mexican singer-songwriter Ana Gabriel, Argentine singer and model Emilia and Venezuelan singer, actress and dancer Evaluna.

The singer will also be honored afro-colombian goyo, Dominican composer and singer Natti Natasha and Mexican singer, actress and businesswoman Thalia.

The evening, whose tickets are already on sale, will be held at Watsco Center in Miami, will celebrate the contributions of Latina women to the music industry with “impressive performances and historic moments, as well as surprises,” Billboard magazine said in a statement.

The two-hour gala celebrates Latin American artists, music industry executives and creatives who are “proactively working for positive change, inclusion and gender equality” in the sector.

The show will be streamed live through the Telemundo app and its Peacock Latino content service.

Ana Gabriel (47) will receive the Living Legend award.

With more than two dozen albums, Gabriel has delighted fans for nearly five decades with hits across genres, including 6 no. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart.

“Our gala Latin women in music (“Latin Women in Music”) is a brave and inspiring event. Our laureates come from very different places, generations, styles, genres and philosophies, but all have excellence, dedication and unique artistry and perspectives,” Leila Cobo, director of Latin content and programming for Billboard magazine, said in a statement.

Cobo noted that, “in this historic year for Latin music, we are very proud to celebrate extraordinary, powerful and leading women every year.”

Ronald Day, president of content and entertainment strategy at Telemundohe said he was proud of this recognition for a group of “powerful female artists who have redefined the role of Latina women in all genders and throughout the world.”

“Music is more than the heartbeat of the Latino community, it is a reflection of our identity. With this event, we intend to continue offering our audience the opportunity to celebrate our culture and unite through the music that unites us all,” he asserted.

The inaugural women’s event Latin Americans in music was announced earlier this year as an expansion of Billboard’s Women in Music franchise.

Billboard and Telemundo aim to “further elevate Latin music globally and celebrate women who have made a concrete impact on Latin music through their artistic achievements or actions that provide opportunity for women and positive change” in the industry.
