Captain Marvel was the first MCU solo movie to feature a female title character, and in the three and a half years since its summer 2019 theatrical release, a lot has happened: the Marvel Cinematic Universe is younger, more feminine, and more diverse – nowhere is this more evident than in Captain Marvel 2″, which isn’t actually called that, but “The Marvels”.
As the title suggests, Carol Danvers is also known as Captain Marvel (Brian Larson) namely not the only miracle (i.e. miracle) in the movie: Rather, she is supported by two powerful superheroines in Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau (known as Spectrum and Photon in the comics) and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel.

After Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan made their MCU debuts in WandaVision and Ms. Marvel” on Disney+, their first major theatrical appearance is now upon us – and apparently some pretty crazy MCU fun awaits us:
Even the finale of “Ms. Marvel” hints at the direction the story of “The Marvels” will go: Kamala’s bracelet, which unlocked her powers in the first place, suddenly started glowing and she unexpectedly turned into Captain Marvel. So the three heroines are somehow connected and switch places every time they want to use their powers.
That should not only be a good template for all kinds of funny and chaotic (action) scenes, but also be central to the plot. After all, the Marvels definitely want to know how this happened and how to get rid of this problem. For this, the three heroines end up in space – and on strange planets…
“Captain Marvel 2: The Marvels” opens in German cinemas on July 26, 2023. Then there is also a reunion with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, who will help the three in their quest, as well as other well-known characters such as Kamala’s father, mother and brother or the feline Flerken Goose. Zawe Ashton is on board as the villain actress, but her role hasn’t been officially revealed yet.
