Like every Sunday night, we look back at the next Netflix week and tell you what not to miss over the next seven days. New series, documentaries, feature films? We get an overview and share it with you. Although the week starts and ends fairly quietly, there is plenty to do on Thursday and Friday. Here are the Netflix reboots for the week of April 10-16, 2023:
Monday & Tuesday: time for the watchlist!
Netflix is not particularly busy on Mondays and Tuesdays. Time for a good book or a game night with friends! Or you just work through your watchlist…
Wednesday: documentary or feature film?
Peter Berg’s thriller ran in 2017 “Boston” with Mark Wahlberg in the cinemas and enthusiastic viewers and of course the editors of FILMSTARTS (4 stars!). Those who know the movie know that “Boston” is about a story that really happened: like every year, on April 15, 2013, the city’s legendary marathon took place. But the sporting event was overshadowed by an assassination attempt.
And that’s exactly what the documentary series is about “American manhunt – The Boston Marathon bombing“, which launches today on Netflix. Interviews, archive footage and re-enacted scenes are intended to show how the murder took place. Not only sounds interesting, but also quite educational!
If you prefer to watch a feature film, you should “Operation Nation” bookmark The Polish Netflix production is about former football player Staszek (Maciej Musialowski) who joins a nationalistic Polish youth party because he doesn’t know what else to do with his future. However, when he meets the left-wing activist Pola (Magdalena Mascianica), he has to completely rethink his plans…
Thursday: entertainment for young and old
Boss Baby is back! And with the second season of the series “Boss Baby: Back to diapers”. And of course it’s about Ted Templeton (John Paul Karliak) and his family again. As Boss Baby, he tries to save the family business Baby Corps and needs quite a bit of help – after all, he’s more or less a baby…
Those who prefer police to babies can take a look at the new series “Florida man” throw, which also begins on Thursday. In the eight episodes, ex-cop Mike Valentine (Edgar Ramirez) must return to his native Florida to find the girlfriend of a mob boss. What Mike initially sees as a simple job soon turns into an adventurous journey into his own past.
Friday: Movie supplement for all “Last Kingdom” fans
With the successful Viking series “LastKingdom” was over after five seasons – almost! Because Netflix donates a feature film that follows the series. Of “Last Kingdom – Seven kings must die” the story, based on the novel ‘The Last Kingdom’ from the series ‘The Saxon Stories’ by Bernard Cromwell, continues today.
According to an ancient prophecy, all of Britain will finally be united after the death of seven kings. But after Edward, ruler of the Anglo-Saxons, dies in the early 10th century, a battle for succession to the throne ensues instead. Uhtred von Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreymon) also gets stuck between the fronts and has to think about what he really wants…
Saturday & Sunday: watch list or movie night?
At the weekend you can return to your viewing list or perhaps pay a visit to the cinema of your choice. Anyway, there’s nothing new to watch on Netflix.
