“aquarius 2aka “Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom” starts earlier in US cinemas: Studio Warner has brought the start date forward from December 25, 2023 to December 20, 2023. Since movies in Germany usually start on Thursdays anyway (more on that later), it probably doesn’t matter much here: “Aquaman 2” will start in German cinemas on December 21, 2023 anyway.
However, we assume that the date in Germany will be brought forward one day to December 20. Should Warner announce anything about this, we will keep you posted.
Why do we think “Aquaman 2” will also start earlier in this country? Simply put, some movie buffs will probably have noticed that more and more movies are being released in theaters on Wednesdays – and from very different studios. For example, “The Super Marios Bros. Movie” just started on April 5, 2023 (a Wednesday). And “Fast & Furious 10” will also start on a Wednesday, namely on May 17, 2023.
At Marvel, on the other hand, it’s long been the case that the new MCU movies always start on Wednesdays, just as there are usually new episodes of the MCU series on Wednesdays – the Marvel series “Secret Invasion” starts around June 21, 2023, Ant- Man And The Wasp: Quantumania premiered on February 15 this year.
“Minecraft” and more: More Warner launch dates announced
In addition, Warner has changed or announced a number of other launch dates: “The color purple“, a remake of the novel on which Steven Spielberg’s “The Color Purple” is based, switches the dates with “Aquaman 2” and thus starts on December 25, 2023. Since the musical does not start until January 18, 2024 in Germany, it would be here in Germany should not change anything. The situation is different for the other dates:
Barry Levinsons “The wise guys“ with Robert De Niro, Debra Messing and Kathrine Narducci, among others, now has a start date of February 2, 2024. In Germany, the film should then start on February 1, 2024 (Thursday).
And also the one who has been simmering in development hell since 2014 (!) “Minecraft“-Movie now has a launch date and is scheduled for April 4, 2025 in US cinemas (expected in Germany: April 3, 2025). Incidentally, Jason Momoa also plays the leading role here – so the circle closes, as it were…
