Five Nights At Freddy’s is a game franchise launched in 2014 and the main series now includes nine titles. Over the years, the horror game universe, which has quickly become a cult, has also expanded to include numerous offshoots such as books and comics. The central setting here is usually a pizzeria, in which the animatronic mascots come to life at night and want to get their hands on employees or security.
Genre-tested production company Blumhouse (“Get Out”, “Halloween”, “M3GAN”) has now published a first photo of “Five Nights At Freddy’s” on social media, which shows the “Freddy Fazabear’s” pizzeria with an animatronic and a human figure in front of the entrance. The Post also announces that the horror film will hit US theaters on October 27, 2023, but will also be available on the Peacock streaming service at the same time. A German start date has not yet been announced.
This is “Five Nights At Freddy’s”
Just under two weeks ago, it was announced that You star Elizabeth Lail will be taking on one of the lead roles in the horror video game adaptation. Lail joins a rather interesting cast, which also includes Josh Hutcherson (“The Hunger Games” franchise), Matthew Lillard (“Scream”), and Mary Stuart Masterson (“Green Tomatoes”). “Five Nights At Freddy’s” is directed by “Dollhouse” creator Emma Tammi.
Josh Hutcherson steps into the role of security guard Mike Schmidt, who starts his first night shift at the pizzeria and soon discovers that something is very wrong here. Elizabeth Lail’s character is named Vanessa. It remains to be seen if this is the same Vanessa as in the original (a security woman and possibly also her alter ego Vanny, who is in a bunny costume). But it probably won’t be too long before the first trailer appears.
