The past few years haven’t exactly been easy for Harry Potter fans. New formats featuring the famous magician with the scar on his forehead were teased over and over, but nothing ever came of it. At the moment, it even looks like the spin-off series about the “Fantastic Beasts”, which was shown in the cinema, will not get a sequel. One of the reasons: not enough success at the box office.
After the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses TV event on HBO and the reunion of the cast in the Harry Potter reunion (also on HBO), Warner Bros. TV executive Channing Dungey was already hoping for more magical adventures through confirming at the end of 2022 that further “Harry Potter” projects were at least discussed. But now there is much bigger and more concrete news!
How reported, Warner Bros. Discovery wants one “Harry Potter” series to run on a Warner streaming service (currently HBO Max). It should not be an extension of the already existing movie world, but should be understood much more as a reboot – that is, the story of Harry Potter is retold, instead of Daniel Radcliffe and Co., younger actors would take on the iconic roles.

Joanne K Rowling‘Harry Potter’ creator and author of the seven-part novel series, would be on board as producer of the series. Besides wanting have learned that one Sorcerer’s Apprentice book per season needs to be adapted. So in the end you would have a “Harry Potter” series with at least seven seasons.
On April 12, 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery are presenting to its investors plans for the company’s near streaming future. Perhaps then the work on the series will be officially confirmed – loudly Warner is currently close to closing the deal, but Warner has not yet commented. It remains to be seen whether there will be first details about the crew or even the cast of the “Harry Potter” series. It is not yet known when the series will be released.
