How to make an adult Easter basket

Cat tails, moss-covered branches and pine cones were used as well as dried yellow statics from last summer as floral decorations.

The Easter Bunny is actually a lamb. At least that’s what a popular folk tale tells. While baking an Easter bread, it was deformed to look more like a rabbit than a lamb. TRUE? Invented? Regardless, the story makes it clear: DIY has always been popular at Easter. This also applies to Easter baskets. And for this you do not need to bake Easter bread in the form of lambs – you can paint your own eggs, choose your chocolate bunnies or bake something yourself. Almost. At least when you decorate the nest with beautiful flowers from the florist or even things you collect and find while hiking in the woods.

Tips from the florist

We asked the florists: Tubers are seasonal. But daffodils, daffodils, grape hyacinths and lilies of the valley are less suitable for an Easter basket. After collection, they dry out quickly if they are not immediately put into water. Flowers can be placed in a test tube if you do not want to do without them in your nest. As a floral decoration, dried flowers are much more suitable. If you don’t want to give up the collected plants though, you’ll find them hiking in the woods. Ferns dry well. They can be found in moist environments along streams. All kinds of moss-covered branches, pine cones and cat’s tails known in the spring are also beautiful decorations.

the story of the easter egg

Besides flowers and herbs, anything that tastes good goes into the nest. A colored, puffed or chocolate egg should not be missing. Like many Easter traditions, egg storage is closely related to Christianity, but arguably has its roots in pagan tradition. The egg was considered a sign of fertility, so pagans gave each other gifts on Easter. However, the Church did not like this tradition. After the pagans converted to Christianity, the eggs were stored and distributed “secretly”. It is unclear where the true tradition of the Easter nest came from. One possible explanation is that the nest was used to show the Easter Bunny where to lay his Easter eggs. What can be proven, however, is what Easter nests still lead to today: a smile and joy.
