“talk to me“ will be shown in German cinemas on July 27, 2023. This is great news for all fans of the creepy movie genre, because “Talk To Me” is undoubtedly one of the best horror movies of the still young cinema year 2023. So scratched “Talk To Me” with an excellent 4.5 out of 5 stars just past the top score of FILMSTARTS. The film uses “classic elements of horror movies, especially ghost and demon movies, to find its own very real motifs at the end. It’s excellent, exciting and entertaining,” concludes our review.
Of course, we’re not the only ones excited about Talk To Me. The horror film also caused a sensation at the renowned Sundance Film Festival (where our author Teresa Vena also saw “Talk To Me”, by the way), as well as at the European premiere at the Berlinale 2023.
That’s how it is a very good average rating of 72 out of 100 points on Metacritic.com bookable (based on nine reviews). And on Rotten Tomatoes, no less than 96 percent of the 55 reviews counted are positive (or 53 out of 55 ratings) with an average rating of 8.1 out of 10 points.

While it can get pretty scary when YouTube stars make a movie, it’s usually more in the “creepy bad” sense. However, “Talk To Me” is perfect proof that this isn’t always true, as behind the horror hype are the channel’s brothers and YouTubers Danny and Michael Philippou RackaRacka.
“Talk To Me” is about Mia (Sophie Wilde), whose mother (Alexandria Steffensen) passed away a few months ago. However, the young woman has come a long way from agreeing, in fact she still asks the same questions: Was her mother’s death really an accident or perhaps suicide? Or is Mia’s father (Marcus Johnson) somehow involved?
A rather wacky party game Mia plays with her best friend Jade (Alexandra Jensen) and her younger brother, Riley (Joe Bird), promises both distractions and possible answers. Because if you touch a plaster hand, under which your real corpse hand is supposed to hide, and say the right words in the game, you are clearly possessed by a ghost. The possessed show all kinds of dark behavior, but always reveal something about the circumstances surrounding the death of the deceased…
