‘Influencers’ from France will have to say if they use a filter

French “influencers” will have to communicate with their videos or photos if they use beautification filters in order to “limit the destructive psychological effects” that these practices have on the youngest Internet users, French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire warned today.

The number two in the French executive made the announcement during the launch of a behavioral guide aimed at France’s estimated 150,000 “influencers” and content creators.

Le Maire also addressed the fight against false advertising, or the advertising of products such as alcohol produced in certain channels, and reported that a “commercial influence brigade” has been created with 15 agents to prevent this practice.

Eventual violations in France, this type of advertising is provided for up to two years jail and a 300,000 euro fine.

The minister explained that he would ask for cooperation internet platformslike TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, which will have to enable a certain channel so that a user can report an “influencer” who has broken the rules.

Le Maire warned that a “cooperation committee” would be formed between these platforms and authorities and he announced that in six months he will check whether these measures against filters have really been applied.
