Emmys, Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Television Awards and a few more – the British BBC series “Killing Eve” has been nominated for just about every major television award and, of course, has won a few. In recent years, the four seasons have repeatedly appeared in different rankings and for us at least the first two seasons were among the best series of 2019.
In Germany, “Killing Eve” has always been a bit under the radar – which could be due to the fact that the series did not celebrate its premiere here on streaming top dogs like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, but on Lionsgate + (formerly Starzplay) (where it can still be picked up). But thanks to a late free TV premiere, the black-tempered thriller highlight could now get a well-deserved boost of attention:
From today, March 24, 2023, “Killing Eve” will be shown on German television for the first time – completely free on ZDFneo. The first season, which consists of eight episodes, starts today at 11:05 PM and will be shown in one sitting. If that’s too late and too long for you, you can stream the series from March 25 (start: 10 a.m.) in the media library, without age verification via a (free) ZDF account, but only between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
But the first season is far from over. Fortunately, ZDFneo is broadcasting all four seasons of the completed series. Season 2 will air on March 31 at 11:25 PM, Season 3 will air on April 13 at 12:15 AM, and Season 4 will air on April 20 at 12:15 AM. A day after the free TV premiere, the episodes are also available as a stream. If you don’t want to see the series in German, you can also select an original soundtrack in English.
That’s what ‘Killing Eve’ is about
Based on the Villanelle novels by Luke Jennings, Killing Eve tells the story of how Eve Polastri’s (Sandra Oh) boring office job turns into a pretty thrilling espionage adventure as she embarks on the trail of assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer). Polastri’s job as an MI5 officer has been pretty monotonous so far, but when she discovers that the mysterious Villanelle is behind several murders across Europe, she becomes an expert in this extraordinary case and takes over the investigation.
Eve sets out to find out who the secret killer really is and it doesn’t take Villanelle long to take an interest in her pursuer. A nerve-racking cat-and-mouse game begins between the two women. Soon the cop and the serial killer can’t live without each other…
