After a recurring role as Frozen Princess Anna in the fairy tale series Once Upon A Time, Elizabeth Lail became known to a much wider audience worldwide with her starring role in the first season of You. As Guinevere Beck, she was the love interest of protagonist and killer Joe (Penn Badgley), through whom we first learned about the stalker’s tendencies and precipices.
The story didn’t end too well for Beck (after all, she briefly appeared as a hallucination in seasons 2 and 4), but her actress Lail could look forward to many more offers after that and was recently seen in the “Gossip Girl” reboot, the short-lived drama series “Ordinary Joe” from “The Batman” creator Matt Reeves and the Diane Keaton comedy “Mack & Rita” (not yet released in Germany). And now there is another promising part:
As American trade journals unanimously report, Elizabeth Lail Will Have a Bigger Role in the Horror Video Game Adaptation”Five nights at Freddy’s” to take over, which was produced by the genre-tested hits Blumhouse (“Halloween,” “Get Out,” “Paranormal Activity,” and more). Lail joins an already illustrious cast, including The Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson, Scream killer Matthew Lillard and indie veteran Mary Stuart Masterson (Green Tomatoes, Benny & Joon).
This is “Five Nights At Freddy’s”
Five Nights At Freddy’s is a game franchise launched in 2014 and the main series now includes nine titles. Over the years, the universe of scary games, which has quickly become a cult, has also expanded through countless offshoots, books, and comics. The central setting here is usually a pizzeria, where the animatronic mascots come to life at night and want to attack employees or security guards.
So is Mike Schmidt, who is embodied in the film adaptation by Josh Hutcherson. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Lail’s character is named Vanessa. Whether this will be the same Vanessa as the original (a security woman and possibly her alter ego Vanny in a bunny suit) or a new character remains to be seen. When “Five Nights At Freddy’s” will be released is not yet certain. However, given that filming is due to be completed by early April 2023, an early 2024 release at the latest seems likely.
