He played a major role in the most famous “Mission: Impossible” scene: another return for “Dead Reckoning”

Tom Cruise has pulled off some completely insane stunts during his Mission: Impossible career: hanging from a plane taking off, climbing the Burj Khalifa and performing a so-called HALO jump. But perhaps the most famous (and most parodied) is still Cruise’s tightrope walking act from the very beginning”Mission Impossiblein which Ethan Hunt, who he plays, is rappelled from the ceiling and not allowed to touch the pressure-sensitive floor. And this scene is now picked up again in the seventh part of the seriesawkwardly titled Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part 1.

As director and screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie announced on Instagram, “Dead Reckoning” will return to an actor who played a pivotal role in said scene: Rolf Saxony returns as William Donloe.

Donloe is the technician who actually works at the station where Ethan Hunt steals a list of undercover agents in the tightrope walk. He is given a drug that makes him nauseous and that is why he is out of place at the crucial moment. That’s why the then director of the Impossible Mission Force (IMF) transfers him to a radar station in Alaska – and it seems he still works there.

It would definitely match the beard and warm sweater Saxon is wearing like Donloe in the photo McQuarrie shared. Moreover, at the same time, the director revealed that the actress Lucy Tulugarjuk (“Atanarjuat – The legend of the fast runner”) in “Dead Reckoning”. And that can be seen in the attached photo for some kind of eavesdropping device in the Arctic – that is certainly no coincidence:

Incidentally, “Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part 1” also features the man who once banished Donloe to eternal ice: Henry Czerny will play (ex-)IMF boss Eugene Kittridge, as in the very first film. In the seventh and penultimate part of the series “M:I” the circle clearly begins to close…

“Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part 1” will be released in German cinemas on July 13, 2023. Part 8 with the beautiful title “Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part 2” follows almost a year later on June 27, 2024.
