Obstacles affecting kidney health

Data shows that 1 in 10 people suffer from chronic kidney diseasewhich is equivalent to 10% of world population. According to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) it is the second leading cause of death in the Central American and Caribbean region.

He explains, “It’s a disease very silent, which is gradually progressing. Until very visible symptoms such as high blood pressurethe swelling of hands and feetthe discoloration and itching of the skinand constant fatigue, so that the patient becomes agitated and goes to the doctor”.

In addition, this disease could be associated with arterial hypertension and type 2 diabetes, which have been increasing in recent years.

Therefore, it is urgent that society takes certain measures to avoid this disease.

Health authorities, hand in hand with the private sector, should develop educational campaigns that would enable the general population to understand the importance of the kidneys, and the causes, symptoms and consequences of kidney disease.

Among the main tips are: style Healthy lifestile including physical activity and one feed which allows maintaining the appropriate level of blood pressure and blood sugar.

What should not be missing is adequate hydration, regular control of blood pressure and blood glucose levelsand avoid smoking.
