In the new episode of The Mandalorian, the 20th chapter or the fourth episode of the third season, we learn how Grogu survived Order 66 and escaped from Coruscant. A Jedi Master named Kelleran Beq played a crucial role in this. And it is embodied by no stranger: Because like Kelleran Beq is in The Mandalorian Ahmed Best to see.
The actor, voice actor, comedian and musician is an integral part of the “Star Wars” story. Than he voiced Jar Jar Binks in “Star Wars: Episode I – III” and suffered greatly from the reactions to it, which also culminated in personal and racist attacks against him.
As Best made public only many years later, the negative reactions to Jar Jar, who was intensely hated and loathed by many fans, bothered him – because they didn’t stop at the fictional character, but also at the actor behind it. He received death threats, people blamed him for “destroying their youth.”
It went so far that Best became depressed and contemplated suicide. In a video he explained this 20 years after the release of “The Phantom Menace” – Warning: trigger warning for the topics depression and suicide!
Best’s open words created a storm of support. Numerous “Star Wars” participants declared their solidarity and condemned the hatred of toxic fans. Many fan groups also made it clear that this should not happen, even among fanatical supporters. Even people who had spoken negatively about him or messaged him have apologized to Best.
Kelleran Beq: This isn’t his first appearance in The Mandalorian
Best made his Star Wars comeback sometime later in a new role. Than In the children’s YouTube game show “Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge” released in 2020, he slipped into the role of the Jedi Master Kelleran Beq for the first timewho is also a relative of Achk Med-Beq, who played Best in a brief mini cameo in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones alongside Jar Jar Binks.
With Kelleran Beq taking care of the Jedi offspring on the game show, it’s only natural that that would also be his job in The Mandalorian. But most of all he proves himself to be an absolute badass Jedidefending against the approaching clone troopers with two lightsabers, shakes them all off in a wild chase over Coruscant, then escapes all enemies again with the starship to take Grogu to safety.
After that, it should be clear: no one will fool this character from Best – and there couldn’t have been a better way to atone for the star’s hatred for a part in the saga. And fans can even hope we see more of him.
So it’s quite likely that the flashback will continue at a later date and Grogu will also remember how he was separated from Beq. Of course, the character could appear in other post-Order 66 stories as well.
