The Samsung QN85B is a Neo QLED TV. No, this Smart TV has nothing to do with Keanu Reeves’ ‘Matrix’ heroes, but the cult sci-fi movie should certainly look good on the QN85B’s powerful screen.
MediaMarkt is currently offering more than 1000 euros discount on the suggested retail price of the QLED TV. In addition, the purchase includes a voucher of 150 euros from MediaMarkt. So you pay only 1099 euros for the 65 inches. The Samsung TV has never been so cheap. The voucher code will be sent to you by email after the withdrawal period has expired.
Samsung QN85B: With QLED panel and 120 Hertz
Thanks to the Neo QLED panel, the Samsung TV produces more brightness than OLED TVs. The reason for this is the new mini-LEDs in the backlight, which enable differentiated control of the individual pixels. This makes this 4K TV particularly interesting if you like to watch movies, series or sports broadcasts in daylight or with bright lighting.
It must be said that the QN85B, unlike its big brother, the QN95B, does not have an anti-reflective coating. The QN95B thus offers an even better anti-reflective coating. On the other hand, the QN85B’s viewing angle stability is impressive – in the true sense of the word from all angles.
But the Samsung QN85B also cuts a good figure almost everywhere. The image is generally of a very high standard. Four HDMI 2.1 connections offer perfect conditions for gaming in combination with a refresh rate of 120 Hertz and various gaming technologies.
HDR10+ is on board but Dolby Vision is missing
There is also an excellent smart TV menu with which you can easily control all streaming apps. As a small technical gimmick, the remote control does not require batteries, but charges itself via a solar cell with sunlight or artificial light.
However, one drawback of all Samsung TVs is the lack of Dolby Vision support. This HDR format is used by most streaming services such as Netflix and Disney + and promises an even greater range from dark to bright images.
Samsung TVs support HDR10+, an HDR format that is mainly used by Amazon Prime Video. Nevertheless, you get very good images from the QN85B when streaming Netflix content.
The best alternatives to the Samsung TV
A good alternative to the Samsung TV is the LG OLED A2 with 65 inches for 1199 euros at MediaMarkt. Here you save 1400 euros compared to the suggested retail price as part of the Get Out promotion.
Unlike the Samsung TV, the LG OLED supports A2 Dolby Vision content, but “only” has a 60 Hertz display. But if you mainly use this 4K TV for streaming and less for game and sports broadcasts, then the refresh rate is of secondary importance.
The all-round worry-free package in terms of HDR support, on the other hand, is provided by the Hisense A9G, which is currently available from Amazon with 65 inches for only 1149 euros gives.
With the Hisense A9G you not only get Dolby Vision, but also HDR10+, as well as a 120Hz refresh rate and two HDMI 2.1 ports for fast gaming. Image quality is typically excellent for OLEDs making the A9G a strong alternative to Samsung and LG TVs.
