In the fantasy series Game Of Thrones, there are lots and lots of sex and nude scenes. There was some criticism, including from those involved, but it cannot be denied that sex and nudity in particular will probably be central selling points of the series, which attracted the audience in front of the screen week after week. For actor Ciarán Hinds, however, it should have been less sex, because according to him, the audience damaged what was actually the most important aspect of the series.
Ciarán Hinds is not a fan of Game Of Thrones sex
In an extensive interview with Hinds talked about his time on Game Of Thrones – he played Mance Rayder, the so-called king-beyond-the-wall, in seasons 3 to 5. But in the conversation, Hinds admitted: that he was reluctant to take the part because he was “put off by the amount of sex”. “This reduced the actual political narratives”said the actor. But in the end it’s probably just “the company, from the perspective of the [Serienmacher]“.
Of course, as we all know, Oscar nominee Ciarán Hinds took the role anyway. His storyline in the cold north of Westeros was also hardly influenced by sex scenes.
At the spinoff”House of the DragonIncidentally, the way sex scenes are shot has changed compared to the parent series. There’s a lot of sex and nudity there too, and that’s still annoying – but at least for the actors, the shooting conditions are better now, and there’s also a more balanced view of female and male pleasure and more valued control.
