Super-cheap 4K TVs aren’t just available from Amazon right now. Otto is now raising the bar, offering a 15 percent discount on all TCL televisions, including the C831. The suggested retail price of the C831 is 1899 euros. Otto has TCL’s top TV on offer for 1349 euros, but now offers an extra 15 percent discount. You can copy the corresponding code on the product page and activate it in the shopping cart. This way you save another 202.35 euros, which reduces the price to only 1146.65 euros.
This is what makes TCL’s 4K TV so powerful
The technology giant TCL is still viewed with some skepticism in this country. Wrongly, however, because the Chinese are the second largest TV manufacturer in the world and even pushed LG to third place. The skepticism therefore seems unfounded.
This is not least evident with the TCL C831. The top model relies on a QLED display with mini LEDs and a large number of dimming zones. Each of these dimming zones consists of several mini-LEDs, which ensure very good sharpness.
In addition, there is excellent brightness and strong contrast, which confirm the excellent image impression. Especially in HDR mode, TCL’s 4K TV gets the most out of your streaming services or Blu-rays. The smart TV supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.
The only compromises are the viewing angle stability and the anti-glare coating. Where the complaining is at a high level, because the C831 also does well here, but does not come quite close to the top models of LG and Co. However, they also cost more.
Up to 144 Hertz and an excellent Smart TV menu
The C831 is also strong in the smart TV menu. Here TCL relies on Android or Google TV and stands above it all conceivable streaming services available. The navigation works intuitively as usual.
The TCL C831 also has enough technology for gamers. There are two HDMI 2.1 ports on board. One of them even offers 4K support up to 144 Hertz! You can use the C831 as a monitor for a PC with a high-end graphics card.
Incidentally, the TCL C831 also has integrated Onkyo boxes. They generate 180 watts of power and deliver their rich sound through a perforated aluminum grille. This gives you a solid sound that comes close to the sound of a small soundbar.
The best alternatives to the TCL 831
An even cheaper alternative to the TCL C831 is the TCL C731. The variant with 55 inches (139 centimeters) including the 15 percent discount at Otto currently only costs once 568.65 euros.
Also supported by the TCL C731 Gaming up to 144 Hertz and convinces with a strong image. Here, however, you have to do without zone dimming, because there are no mini-LEDs installed. But the little brother of the C831 costs half as much.
If you prefer an OLED TV to a QLED TV, the LG OLED CS9 is a good choice for you. The 55-inch model is currently available on Amazon for 1111 euros.
This 4K TV offers 120 Hertz and HDMI 2.1 connections for gaming. OLED technology enables even more differentiated lighting than QLED technology, although this advantage is diminished by the TCL 835’s mini-LEDs. On the other hand, OLED televisions are usually not as bright as their QLED counterparts. As always, you are spoiled for choice here.
