In an interview with the Italian newspaper on his 84th birthday, which will take place in a few days, Terence Hill casually, but certainly well-planned, detonates the bomb. To the simple question “Do you want to give us news?”, the answer comes: “The return of Trinità!”
Trinità is the name of the main character of Terence Hill in the original Italian version of the cult western The Devil’s Right Hand and Left Hand (original: Lo chiamavano Trinità) and its equally acclaimed sequel Four Fists for a Hallelujah (im Original: “.. continuavano a chiamarlo Trinità”).
For many Spencer/Hill fans, these two titles are the duo’s best movies – they also ranked #2 and #1 in one of our rankings. And yes, the new movie is very much a sequel, as Hill makes clear as it unfolds. interview progresses. – albeit without Bud Spencer, of course, who sadly passed away in 2016.
The title of the new western: “Trinity, the suora and the gun‘, i.e. ‘Trinity the nun and the gun’ or ‘Trinity the nun and the gun’.
This is Trinity the nun and the gun
As Terence Hill reveals in the interview, he actually didn’t want to shoot westerns anymore. He believed that he had already done everything in this genre. But then a book fell into his hands: the true story of an Italian nun who emigrated to America in the late 1800s, went to the Wild West and met Billy The Kid. This is now the template for his film, but of course very freely told. The nun is given the fictional name Blandina in his film.
The film opens with Trinity saving the nun Blandina from three dangerous cowboys. This then develops into a story with three main characters: Trinity, the nun and “La Pistola” – behind whom the legendary western hero Billy the Kid is hiding.Hill continued
Hill, whose mother is German and has also had German nationality for a while, is in the spaghetti western not only starring, but also directing. The past 18 months have been spent developing the script.
He wants to start shooting in Abruzzo from summer 2023. The region of central Italy was also where the non-studio shots for many Italo-Westerns were made in the 1970s, as the Gran Sasso d’Italia massif provides an excellent backdrop for a doubling of the Wild West.
It is not yet known when and where Hill’s new western will be released, but if we stick to the planned start of shooting, we can expect a start in the course of 2024.
