Peter and Bobby Farrelly were the go-to duo for gritty comedy in the 1990s. With “Dumb and Dumber” and “Mad About Mary”, the brother duo also delivered two of the most successful films of the decade, which are now considered absolute classics of the genre. In addition, the Farrellys also directed Me, Both & They, Inseparable, Kingpin, Everything Allowed and Hard in Love. And now that last one gets interesting again.
As has now been announced, the Farrellys will next focus on the Christmas comedy”Dear Santa” take care. While the brothers co-wrote the screenplay, Bobby Farrelly will direct and co-produce the film with Peter Farrelly. After the duo recently went their separate ways (and Peter Farrelly also won an Oscar for “Green Book”), they are now back together. Of course also fits that an old acquaintance will play the leading role here.
Jack Black sparks Christmas
Because like the US industry magazine reportedly Jack Black will star. He was the protagonist in the aforementioned “Schwer Liebe” and is therefore naturally familiar with the often very garish vulgar humor of the Farrellys. At least on his Instagram profile, he seems to be full of anticipation about the upcoming collaboration:
Dear Santa follows a little boy (Robert Timothy Smith) who accidentally sends his letter to Santa directly to the devil. In addition to Jack Black and Robert Timothy Smith, Keegan-Michael Key (“Why Him?”), Brianne Howey (“Kill The Boss 2”), Hayes MacArthur (“Homo Erectus”), PJ Byrne (“Babylon”) and Austin have also Post (a.k.a. rapper Post Malone) in the cast.
By the way, you will soon be able to see Jack Black on the big screen , if you have The Super Mario Bros. Movie in the original English version. In it, Black takes on the role of villain and turtle king Bowser. And the final trailer before the animation break underlined that this could be quite fun:
