‘Wellmania’: Misfortunes in search of well-being

“Wellmania,” the new Netflix drama series starring Celeste Barber, takes a closer look at the wellness industry through the story of Liv Healy, a food critic who is forced to rethink her carefree lifestyle.

The drama series is based on the book “Wellmania: Extreme Misadventures in the Pursuit of Wellness” by the writer and journalist Brigid Delaney, and it was adapted for the small screen by the author together with the Australian writer Benjamin Law from “The Family Law”.

Starring Celeste Barber (comedian, writer and actress). Liv Healywho suffers from a health crisis that threatens his dream job NOW and therefore sees the need to change his “live fast, die young” attitude.

Healy had to travel to his native Australia, where he receives a diagnosis of ill healthwhich prevents her from re-entering the United States to join as a cooking show judge, a job that would catapult her into the American market.

With his dream job in jeopardy, Barber’s character ventures to wellness triphe tries everything from the benign to the bizarre in an attempt to regain his health and his old life.

Healy’s list includes health-enhancing trends such as four-day fasting regime, herbal laxatives, acupuncture, suction cups and fecal cleansingregardless of whether they work to restore your health or not.

“When a health crisis makes her reconsider her carefree life, a food writer she goes on a wellness journey to recover… even if it kills her,” the synopsis for the eight-part series, which will premiere on March 29, points out.

JJ Fong, Genevieve Mooy, Lachlan Buchanan, Remy Hii, Alexander Hodge, Simone Kessell, Virgine Laverdure, Johnny Carr and Miranda Otto are the other talented cast members.

Who is Celeste Barber?

The name of the comedian and actress may not sound familiar to some, but it is quite possible that you have seen some of her parody videos expectation against reality canons on beauty in social networks.

This year, the platform will also premiere the Australian’s first comedy special recorded during her tour “Celeste Barber – Good, Thanks”a very personal monologue about marriage, mental health, sex toys and more, at the Sydney Opera House.
