New music? Of course we want to make everything clear to you in the beginning. Of course, the new edition “Arielle” of the popular animation classic also contains the big hits of the original – for example, the song “In dein Welt” can already be heard in the trailer, which you can watch at the end of this article can. But there will also be brand new songs and Alan Menken, who also composed the music for the animated film “Arielle” and has the associated experience, and “Hamilton” composer Lin-Manuel Miranda are responsible for it.
None of the new pieces have been heard so far, this surprise probably only awaits us in theaters – but now director Rob Marshall has interviewed at least revealed the title and content of one of the new songs. And he will play a very important role in the film, accompanying the title heroine Arielle (Halle Bailey) in a very special experience. Marshall explained that the song is called “For The First Time” and that Ariel will sing it the first time she goes ashore.
“For The First Time”: a song full of emotions
“The song is about her experience the moment she steps ashore,” says Marshall. “We wanted to create a piece that could function almost like a montage so we could use it to guide her through that experience — coming ashore, what it’s like to put on shoes, to have legs.”
The aim is to capture Arielle’s many different emotions at this crucial moment in her life and make them tangible for the audience. After all, Arielle’s big dream is to be on land, but the experience itself is new and daunting. “Anyone who has a new experience knows that it can be amazing and scary at the same time,” says Rob Marshall.
