Next March 14th is the International Day of Mathematics, and in commemoration of that date, the Mathematical Bazaar will be held.
This Sunday, March 12, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., this activity will take place in ul. Dolphin Square, Albrook Mall.
The activity is “conceived as a space where all people, children, youth and adults can discover the beauty of this science in a fun way through pleasant games available for all ages,” said Dr. sc. Jeanette Shakalliexecutive director of the Panama Foundation for the Promotion of Mathematics (FUNDAPROMAT), organizers.
“Adults and children will be able to learn how to fold and solve origami Rubik’s Cube. In addition, we will have several tables with attractions inspired by the activities we have explored at our Maths Fests,” he explained.

In it mathematical bazaar FUNDAPROMAT will be attended by IEEE Panama Section, Explora Science and Art Center, National Center for Space Sciences of Panama (CENACEP), Institute for Scientific Research and High-Tech Services of Panama (INDICASAT AIP) and National Metrology Center of Panama. “We gathered a diverse group for this occasion institutionwho will offer a different perspective from their areas of expertise on the many exciting applications that mathematics has in almost every aspect of our lives,” Shakalli said.
Having achieved the participation of five organizations in International Day of Mathematics it is “an undeniable sign of the impact that the Foundation’s initiatives are having on the Panamanian population,” he added.
He also noted, “We hope that students, teachers and parents will join us with their families in this beautiful celebration.”
Fact
In November 2019, 40 General Conference of the United Nations for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) declared every year March 14 as the International Day of Mathematics.
The celebration seeks to create “greater global awareness and empowerment teaching yes it is mathematical sciences they are key to solving challenges in areas such as artificial intelligence, climate change, energy and sustainable development, and to improving the quality of life in the developed and developing world.”
