The 5 biggest calorie myths

class=”sc-97fd9fa8-0 jNFKxv”>

If you want to lose or gain weight, you quickly start counting calories. It is said that pineapple burns fat, sweating a lot burns calories, and eating slowly makes you feel full. But what is really true?

one

If you sweat more, you burn more calories

This legend is not true. We sweat to cool our bodies. How much you sweat depends on several factors, including weight, age, and fitness level. The number of sweat glands is also important – from two to four million in humans. But it is quite possible that you will lose weight through excessive sweating. Unfortunately, however, it is fat mass, not water. As soon as you drink water again after training, this weight is returned. Because the intensity of your workout increases, more calories are burned only when you sweat more.

2

Chewing for longer means you eat fewer calories

This is true, because if you chew for a long time, you will eat less. Most people only feel full after about 15 minutes. During this time, fast eaters can eat plenty before they feel full – resulting in more calories. If you chew food thoroughly, you automatically eat less. Eating slowly is also good for digestion. In general, you can save up to 30 percent calories per meal.

3

All calories are equal

not so Carbohydrates, fats, glucose and fructose are broken down and metabolized differently. For example, calories from high-sugar foods instantly raise blood sugar levels, which ultimately increases hunger. Calories obtained from a balanced and healthy diet provide a long-term feeling of satiety.

4

You save calories by skipping breakfast

In theory, yes. It doesn’t matter where you cut calories. If you skip breakfast, your daily calorie count will also decrease. However: with the first meal of the day, fat burning begins, the metabolism is stimulated and we burn calories. If you skip breakfast, it all starts later, even though you’re already active. Therefore, a small breakfast is still recommended.

5

Pineapple kills calories

Unfortunately, this is not entirely true. It’s just a myth that fruits like pineapple magically remove calories. It has no effect on fat burning. Still, pineapple comes highly recommended: the bromelain enzyme found in the fruit supports our digestion and kills bacteria. It also boosts the immune system and is very low in calories – just like caffeine and green tea, it stimulates our metabolism. This can help with weight loss. (bnp)

What is a kilocalorie?

kilocalories It is the unit in which the energy stored in food is delivered. Kilocalories indicate the energy you provide to the body through food. In science, a calorie is defined as the energy required to heat 1 liter of water exactly 1°C. It is a unit of thermal energy that measures the calorific value of a food. The energy needed by our body is measured in calories. In 1978, the “kilocalorie” unit was replaced by the “kilojoule” unit due to international agreements. Kilojoule (kJ): Joule name goes back to British physicist JP Joule. It is a measure of energy and corresponds to the work required to move 1 kg 1 meter per second.
