“Game Of Thrones” Author Creates New Series For Disney+: America’s First Superhero Returns

Bryan Cogman will serve as writer, showrunner and executive producer on the reboot of “Zoro” to take over, which is coming exclusively to the Disney+ streaming service. Cogman is best known for Game of Thrones. He was part of the team behind the fantasy series for ten years and was the author responsible for nearly a dozen episodes. Most recently, he also worked in a consulting role on Amazon’s “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”.

The new series “Zorro” is a reboot of the 1950s Disney cult series of the same name, in which Guy Williams played the sword-wielding hero. According to the description, the focus is on the privileged gentleman Diego De La Vega, who is brought back to his hometown of El Pueblo de Los Angeles by a family tragedy. There he must realize that it has been dissolved by corruption and injustice. So he decides to declare war on him and becomes the masked avenger Zorro – America’s first true superhero…

The title as America’s first superhero may also be a nod to the character’s rich history. Its roots go back to 1919, where it appeared in several stories by author Johnston McCulley. He is therefore considered a very early example of a masked avenger with a double life and thus as a forerunner of many American comic book heroes, especially Batman, who has all kinds of parallels with Zorro.

Wilmer Valderrama as Zoro on Disney+

When the project was first announced, it became known That William Valderrama plays the leading role. Also known for “The Seventies Show” and the series “From Dusk Till Dawn”, Valderrama has been part of the main cast of the hit crime series “NCIS” as Special Agent Nick Torres since Season 14 and quickly became a fan favorite. He has already appeared in almost 150 episodes of the series.

Whether the role of “NCIS” can be reconciled with another “Zorro” series is more than doubtful. However, no timetable has yet been announced for when the new series will be produced and then come to Disney+. The Mouse House promises “an epic adventure steeped in California’s rich and varied history, filled with humor, dark intrigue, romantic entanglements, and exhilarating swordsmanship.”
