A new Alien movie is coming! That’s for sure now. Nevertheless, the information we have so far about the sci-fi horror movie from “Evil Dead” creator Fede Alvarez is very scarce. We know it will be a standalone film, set in the Alien universe, but with its own storyline separate from the events of the previous films.
A wise decision, as Alien fans know the franchise has a legacy of questionable story choices. As a director, Fede Alvarez also gives hope to many fans of the series, after all, the director is best known for his work in the horror field. Perhaps the filmmaker can return the series to its sci-fi horror roots.
It’s now been announced when shooting for the new “Alien” movie will begin, and there’s new details about the cast and story on top of that!
Movie start, plot details and cast growth
In just a few days, on March 9, 2023, the shooting of the new, as yet untitled “Alien” movie will begin in Budapest. Alongside lead actress Cailee Spaeny (“Pacific Rim: Uprising”) and the already well-known Isabela Merced (“Sicario 2”), David Jonsson (“Industry”), Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone”), Spike Fearn (“The Batman “) and Aileen Wu (“Away from Home”) must confront the intergalactic threat.
“Alien: Romulus” or a completely different name? There is also a lot of speculation about the name of the new “Alien” part. While movie titles and an exact synopsis for the movie have been kept under wraps, official plot details have now been released by 20th Century Studios. It would be about a group of young people on a distant world who are confronted with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
Even though this concise summary doesn’t reveal too much about the story, in short form it reads quite similar to Ridley Scott’s classic “Alien – The uncanny creature from a Strange World”. By the way: Of course, “Alien” creator Scott is back on board too. He will co-produce the as-yet-untitled film.
