Do it again Hugo! In “Deadpool 3”, Hugh Jackman will (probably) step into the role of the clawed mutant Wolverine for the last time. For many comic fans, this is one of the best news of recent months, as a reunion with the Australian actor in what is probably his most iconic role seemed impossible after the Wolverine finale “Logan – The Wolverine” – the actor had his at the time officially Claws hung in the nail.
And maybe Wolverine fans now have even more reason to be happy, because in an interview with the French daily the actor made a statement that should make Marvel fans sit up and take notice. Because Jackman will probably be over Taking Your Role in “Deadpool 3”:
“Yes, it will even be a double role. […] Ryan and I have been friends for twenty years; we have a lot of fun together. We’re going to shoot this summer. That’s why I’m so happy to be in Paris now and enjoy French gastronomy. Because soon I will have to put myself on a strict diet to restore my Wolverine body: steamed chicken and broccoli!”
More than one Wolverine?
A double role? What could Jackman mean by this statement? Does this mean we might be dealing with multiple Wolverine incarnations at once? Since chatterbox Deadpool and the grumpy Wolverine are now officially part of the MCU with this movie appearance, such Marvel multiverse mind games are even possible.
The solution can of course also be much less spectacular and Hugh Jackman could also play another, completely different role or maybe even eventually embodying themselves. As we know from the previous “Deadpool” movies, the humor of the crazy superhero blockbuster series is always very self-referential and the fourth wall is often broken.
We’ll probably have to wait a little longer before we finally find the answer “Deadpool 3” will probably only begin November 6, 2024 in German cinemas. You can see what could happen in the sequel right here in this video from FILMSTARTS video editor Sebastian Gerdshikow:
