On May 5, Ed Sheeran will release his new album “-” (minus sign) in which he collected the “fear, depression and anxiety” he experienced in 2022 when several misfortunes happened in his life.
He British singer he announced it on Twitter, where, along with a photo of him working, which he took American Annie Leibovitz, hang a picture of two pages from his diary where he explains the inspiration behind his work.
“I worked on ‘Take away’ spent a decade trying to carve the perfect acoustic album, writing and recording hundreds of songs with a clear vision of what he believed it should be,” he writes.
“Then, in early 2022, the series events changed my life, my mental health and ultimately the way I viewed music and art,” leading him to create new material that reflects his “deepest and darkest thoughts.”
“Within a month, they said my pregnant wife that she had a tumor, with no possibility of treatment until delivery,” he reveals.

“I was in a spiral of fear, depression and anxiety”says the 32-year-old artist.
“I felt like I was drowning, with my head below the surface and looking up, but I couldn’t get air,” he adds.
Ed Sheeran admits that this album, which is distributed by Atlantic Records and is part of a series called like various mathematical symbols, it is like “opening the hatch” of your soul.
He assures that it was not made for the first time to please the audience, but to be seen with it “honesty” where he is in his “adult life”.
