The DC upheaval continues: New series from the creator of “The Sandman” is trite – and saved by Netflix

The turmoil at DC continues: Actually, the series adaptation of the DC comic book series “Dead Boy Detectives” created by “The Sandman” creator Neil Gaiman was originally supposed to appear on HBO Max – but nothing has come of it now.

From a report of It now appears that the series project will not be played out by the streaming provider because the series would not fit into the new direction that DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran have planned for the new DCU. This plan includes five interconnected series in the first phase that will run on HBO Max, and the Dead Boy Detectives are not part of it.

But fans of Neil Gaiman and his work need not fear if the comedy drama series “Detectives of dead boys‘ has already been sold to another streaming giant and has now found a new home on Netflix!

These are the “Dead Boy Detectives”

In terms of content, the comic series is about the ghosts of the deceased children Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine. These have no intention of going to the afterlife, but want to stay on earth to investigate crimes related to supernatural activities as detectives.

Actually, the change in the series also has its good side, because the adventures of the ghostly detective kids take place in the same universe as “The Sandman”. For example, they were first seen in “The Sandman #25” in the early 90s and who knows, maybe the two worlds will come together in a series after Netflix has already successfully edited “The Sandman” in 2022?

Appearance on “Doom Patrol”

By the way, the “Dead Boy Detectives” first appeared on the television screens in the third season of the DC series “Doom Patrol”. Here the two supernatural detectives were embodied by Sebastian Croft and Ty Tennant. However, this incarnation of the investigators is separate from the former HBO Max series, as it stars George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri as the teen-dead investigative duo.

It is not yet known when the series will start on Netflix.
