When it comes to love, presenter Sylvie Meis just seems to be out of luck in the long run. Now the 44-year-old has announced the divorce from her husband Niclas Castello.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we have jointly decided to part ways.” the couple states in a joint statement, which also has Watson. “We look back on very good times, but we must recognize that our life situations are too different for a common future,” it said.

According to the “Bild”, which first published the statement, neither of them wanted to give up professionally, leaving the couple spatially separated too often. While he lives and works in Switzerland and Los Angeles, she has her apartment and business in Hamburg.

The two did not want to disclose any further details about the separation regarding the protection of their privacy and would not answer questions about it in the future, they said.

Sylvie Meis and the artist said they met at the wedding of “GNTM” winner Barbara Meier in June 2019. They announced their engagement in October of the same year. The wedding was scheduled for June 2020, but then had to be postponed due to the corona pandemic. A few weeks later, on September 19, 2020, Sylvie Meis and Castello said yes in Florence. Only two and a half years later everything is over and the two go their separate ways in the future.

For Sylvie Meis it is the second failed marriage. From 2005 to 2013 she was married to football player Rafael van der Vaart. The two have a son together, 16-year-old Damián, who has lived in Denmark with his father and his partner Estavana Polman since 2020 and continues his football career there.

Divorcing her son was anything but easy for the 44-year-old, as she explained in an interview with Watson last year. Still, she made it clear: »I am so proud of him for taking this step and going to another country. That he learned Danish. He fought through it. And finally he got his contract with the Danish club Esbjerg fB and now he is even part of the Dutch U-16 national team again. Still – am I missing him here? Clearly. Although of course I appreciate that I have been able to live my life the way I have done it for the past two years without feeling guilty,” revealed Sylvie Meis.
