It’s carnival – and THAT should be the most popular costumes?

The largest carnival in Switzerland starts in Basel on Monday. In addition to Guggen music, Schnitzelbängg and (too) much alcohol, the costumes of the visitors are central to the festivities.

We asked Galaxus which carnival costumes were among the blockbusters this year. And voila:

Price: 39 francs

This children’s costume is from an animated television series. According to the manufacturer, the target group is girls, but as is known, there is freedom from fools at carnival.

Price: Between 34 and 60 francs

JK Rowling’s book series continues to be popular with kids and teens, as this costume series shows. The online retailer offers six (reasonably) different products.

Price: 39 francs

What always makes people laugh? Escaped prisoners!

Price: 36 francs

Cute and comfortable rompers for animals have been trending for a number of years. This year the (raccoon) bear wins.

Price: Between 15 and 91 francs

The photos from the World Cup in Qatar made an impression, as evidenced by this costume category. And here there is actually a smaller selection of different panels.

Price: Between 30 and 82 francs

However, the largest category is the tracksuits from the 1980s. Galaxus offers 43 different ones. Under the motto: “You know one, you know them all”, we have selected for you the most representative in the photo.

Price: 36 francs

Even Pokémon doesn’t seem to die among children. Nearly 30 years after its creation, Pikachu remains a blockbuster.

Price: 25 francs

And what could be funnier than an escaped convict? A Mexican! carnival logic.

Price: 28 to 129 francs

We return to fairyland: the unicorns are on the loose! Here too there are countless different costumes. They only have one thing in common: they are all rompers. After the fair (and if not too much Vodka-Redbull has been poured over) you can relax on the couch on Sunday.

We don’t want to keep the most expensive unicorn costume from you either: it’s the Glamor Unicorn for CHF 129 – fancy.

Price: 33 francs

Ah, kids and TV… “Paw Patrol” beats both “Harry Potter” and “Pokémon”.

Price: 62 francs

Ah, the “sexy” cop. Unfortunately the stick is a bit short.

Price: 45 francs

To extinguish a fire? Child’s play during carnival.

But now we come to the costume you’re likely to see at every carnival this year:

Price: 39 francs

A beer carton. Just a pair of sweatpants with a matching jacket in a beer pattern.

After all, the Federal Office of Health would be happy: the two models have exactly the recommended daily amount of alcohol for their respective gender.
