Long wait for “House Of The Dragon” Season 2: Finally we know more about the start

Dragons on the horizon, rolling heads and questionable love relationships – with the prequel series “House Of The Dragon” “Game Of Thrones” fans got exactly what they were missing after the end of the successful HBO series in 2019. And now everyone is waiting for season 2, which of course has long been confirmed.

HBO boss Casey Bloys indicated shortly after the finale of the first season that the second season of “House Of The Dragon” would not come until 2024. In an interview with he has confirmed his statements from then and also made them more concrete. He has pointed out that the second season may not qualify for the 2024 Emmys because it will air late. Who knows, the deadline for qualification will expire on May 31, 2024, so you can also limit the broadcast date.

therefore guessed in the interview that the second season of “House Of The Dragon” could be released in summer 2024 and Bloys agreed with “that’s a good guess”.. So it all looks like we’ll have to wait more than a year for new stories to come out of Westeros, but at least that won’t be until the end of 2024.

What’s next for other Game Of Thrones spin-offs?

As previously reported, HBO has other GoT irons in the fire besides House Of The Dragon. Numerous spin-offs were/are in development. Screenplays were written and some pilots were even shot! So far, only the “Game Of Thrones” prequel has hit the screens. And according to Bloys, all this has its justification and will continue to be used in this way. So HBO does not aim for a fixed number of spin-offs, but only develops the ideas and scripts that are really good.

Of course, Bloys was also asked about the possible Jon Snow spin-off starring Kit Harington, which many fans would be thrilled about. But here too there is no real news. The development of the series is still ongoing, but he cannot say anything concrete about it yet, says Bloys.

This is what House Of The Dragon season 2 could look like

Just like Game Of Thrones, House Of The Dragon is of course based on novels by writer George RR Martin. So if you want to know exactly how it goes next, take a look at the bestselling author’s work. But of course, all the details in the series can rarely happen exactly as in the literary original.

But what we already know for sure is that there will be no more major time jumps in the season 2 storyline. The characters and actors we saw at the end of the first season of House Of The Dragon will also appear in the next round. sit – unless, of course, they are killed. But of course there are also new, exciting roles.

Also relatively certain: there will be a reunion with Winterfell, the home of the Stark family. At the end of Season 1, Prince Jacaerys (Harry Collett) was sent to remind the Starks and Tullys of the oath they swore to his mother. We’ll be sure to find out what this encounter looks like in Season 2.

If you want to learn more about things in the future of the series, we definitely recommend our colleague Sebastian’s video. He watches season 2 – and ignores book spoilers. So you don’t have to worry about learning too much:
