Pharrell Williams is the new creative director at Louis Vuitton

Pharrell Williams is probably best known for his music: he stormed the charts in 2013 with the catchy tune “Happy”. Those who follow Williams more closely know that he has always had a good eye for fashion in the past. So it’s not surprising that Pharrell Williams was chosen to fill the role of Louis Vuitton menswear creative director.

There has been speculation for months about who could become the new chief designer of the men’s line of the French fashion label. Since the death of Virgil Abloh in November 2021, the in-house design studio has now taken on this task – designer Colm Dillane joined as external support at the beginning of this year. Louis Vuitton is now announcing its top job replacement on Instagram:

Williams previously collaborated with the luxury brand in 2004 and 2008, and has also had a hand in other well-known brands such as Tiffany & Co, Moncler and Adidas.

Still, the new job is likely to be challenging, as the musician is following in great footsteps: his predecessor Virgil Abloh was the first black designer to head Louis Vuitton. He ensured that Louis Vuitton could reach a new, especially younger and more diverse audience.

The first Louis Vuitton collection with Williams at the top will be presented in June.
