“Avatar 2”: The mega hit director James Cameron has already brought in so much money personally

The business magazine has published the list of entertainers who made the most money in 2022. James Cameron placed eighth ahead of rapper and actor Bad Bunny (10th place, $88 million) and superstar Taylor Swift (9th place, $92 million). Cameron made a whopping $95 million last year from the second Pandora adventure – the “at least” cannot be stressed enough. Because Forbes’ money list is for 2022. The business magazine reports that, according to insiders, Cameron’s contract contains numerous bonus agreements if the film reaches certain box office milestones.

“Avatar 2” should also make Cameron big money in 2023. After all, most of the box office milestones were only reached in recent weeks in 2023. It is possible that more will follow. So another big check will follow in 2023. In 2010, Cameron is said to have personally earned $ 350 million from the first part “Avatar: Departure from Pandora” – thanks in part to heavy bonus payments, which only gradually took effect.

These Hollywood stars made even more money than Cameron in 2022

However, James Cameron is not the highest ranked Hollywood personality on the entertainment money list . Two places ahead of him in sixth place is Brad Pitt with $100 million in revenue. For the most part, though, he didn’t with his roles in Babylon, Bullet Train, and The Lost City. Pitt sold a large stake in his production company Plan B in 2022, with which he has produced high-profile films such as “12 Years A Slave” or more recently “Blonde” and “She Said”.

Even further ahead is Tyler Perry, who made $175 million and is now a billionaire overall. Here, too, the work as a director and actor – for example, in the Netflix film “A Madea Homecoming” in 2022 – is not primarily responsible for this. It is mainly his powerful position behind the scenes. Perry now has a stake in American cable channel Black Entertainment Television (BET) and is responsible for the streaming service BET+. He implemented most of the series and shows that ran there with his company, Tyler Perry Studios. Among other things, this company also owns a large, ever-expanding studio site in Atlanta, which other Hollywood productions are booking into – Marvel projects such as Black Panther 2 recently, but also a Netflix movie such as Red Notice.”

By the way, series creator duos are also in the top 10 of the Forbes money list. South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone owe their fourth place to a major deal with Hollywood studio Paramount. James L. Brooks and Matt Groening, the brains behind ‘The Simpsons’, benefit from the unbroken popularity of the yellow family, whose exploitation on the streaming service Disney +, among others, would earn them $ 105 million annually.
