In January 2023, we had bad news for fans of “How I Met Your Mother” star Neil Patrick Harris: Netflix canceled his new series “Uncoupled” after one season. But now the comedy series has been rescued and found a new home: “Disconnected‘ is broadcast on the American premium channel Showtimesoon to be called Paramount+ With Showtime. But what does that mean for “Uncoupled” season 2 in Germany? To do this, we need to do something:
Showtime aka Paramount+ With Showtime kept “Unlinked” because the series fits into one of the three fields the broadcaster wants to distinguish itself from now on: Complex Characters (exciting characters like in “Dexter”), Powerful Worlds (exciting series like “Homeland”) Metro -Cultures (series with different main characters).
Since Neil Patrick Harris plays a gay man in “Uncoupled” who is suddenly single again in his mid-40s, the series fits into the latter category. Incidentally, the series on Showtime should now be a bit more daring and suggestive, like the American trade magazine reported.
Showtime and Paramount+
However, Showtime aka Paramount+ With Showtime will not exist as a broadcaster in Germany in the future either, So where will “Uncoupled” play in this country in the future? The series will probably be on Paramount+, the streaming service recently launched in this country by the Paramount group. Most (but by no means all) Showtime series are also shown there.

However, this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet and in fact there have been a few series in the past that have stayed with streaming service X outside the US, although broadcaster Y has taken over production in America – so it would be at least theoretically possible that the second season “Unlinked” then runs on Netflix in this country. But we don’t really believe in it. Especially since the Paramount boardroom must always be looking for new content for Paramount+ and Netflix has canceled the series.
In return, Netflix will take over the Showtime series
By the way, the whole situation finally gets messed up because Netflix is also taking over a series from Showtime in return: “The talented Mr. Ripley“ “Sherlock” and “Fleabag” star Andrew Scott is based on a book by Patricia Highsmith, as is the movie of the same name starring Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
