Linkin Park fans always hope for updates from their favorite artists. After the death of singer Chester Bennington in 2017, the band did not release a new album, but fans regularly ask frontman Mike Shinoda for news. It wasn’t until April 2022 that this new Linkin Park project was very clearly rejected.

The excitement among the band’s fans was all the greater when Linkin Park recently made a big announcement via Twitter. In fact, there’s music coming soon from the band that’s never been heard before – and a detail about that should make fans extremely happy.

Mike Shinoda’s statement about the band’s new projects was actually very clear. “The only Linkin Park news I have for you guys is we talk every few weeks. I talk to the guys, some of the guys,” he explained in a stream. And then he got very clear :

But now, almost a year later, exactly what Shinoda had ruled out is happening. Linkin Park announced on Twitter that they want to release a song. However, the song titled “Lost” is not new. It was probably recorded for the band’s second studio album, “Meteora”, but it ultimately didn’t make the final cut of the record. Now that the band wants to release the song anyway, it is sung by the late frontman Chester Bennington.

The single is scheduled for February 10th and fans are already over the moon. Underneath the tweet with the announcement are plenty of enthusiastic reactions from fans in the form of gifs or surprised exclamations.

Many fans share very personal stories of how the band’s music has helped them through tough times. “It’s so comforting. I feel a little lost since my dog passed away on Wednesday. LP has always helped me through the worst. Thank you!” writes one fan.

Other fans are especially looking forward to hearing Bennington sing again. “I miss him so much and I know millions of others feel the same way,” said one fan.

Linkin Park certainly made their followers very happy with the announcement. And it’s not the only surprise they can look forward to: Linkin Park also announced that they plan to set up their own Discord server to hold a Q&A with fans on February 10th.

This also caused a lot of enthusiasm among the fans. They are now, it seems, fully rewarded for staying loyal to the band for so long.
