The superhero adventures from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are true hit guarantees. Yes, some may be more successful than others, but in general, even after almost 15 years, the comic book universe is like a money printing machine. While the hero world is also home to more and more series that enjoy growing popularity, animated series have a much more difficult time:
“Marvel’s What If…?” is on Season 2 this year, but the “MODOK” stop-motion format was dropped right after the first season. The currently perhaps most brutal and also craziest series based on a Marvel comic has now been given the green light and has been extended after more than 14 months: “Marvel’s Hit Monkey‘ is getting a second season!
How now through confirmed, Hulu is working on a second season of the acclaimed animated series. Appropriately, of course, this was announced with a little video that should set the mood for the return of the eponymous cheeky ape:
It is not yet known when the second season of “Hit Monkey” will be released. So for now, we’ll have to settle for the “coming soon” note. Like Season 1, the new episodes will likely land on Disney+ in this country, while the series is home-based in the US on streaming provider Hulu.

This makes “Hit-Monkey” the only one of the four planned animated series (which would later be turned into a fifth) to make it to the second season. “MODOK” was canceled after the first batch of episodes, while “Howard The Duck” and “Tigra & Dazzler” weren’t even implemented.

At the center of the hilarious and ruthless animated series is a Japanese snow monkey (original voice: Fred Tatasciore), whose tribe falls victim to a group of ruthless gangsters in Tokyo. Driven by vengeance, he has only one thing in mind: to make the murderers of his loved ones bleed! So he goes hunting…
Always by his side as a mentor is the ghost of American assassin Bryce (Jason Sudeikis), who also died in the massacre – and is now mysteriously inseparable from the ape. Together the two shed so much blood that it is not long before the police are breathing down their necks. However, she doesn’t know yet whether she should fight against the knocked-down monkey or by his side…
Joining Tatasciore and Sudeikis for Season 2 is Olivia Munn (“X-Men”), who will once again play the future Prime Minister’s niece, Akiko. New on board in an undisclosed role is Leslie Jones, known for 2016’s Ghostbusters and The Prince of Zamunda 2, among others. Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how the killer monkey saga continues – because this time the eponymous hit monkey to New York City.
