The most famous horror puppet in movie history is probably still Chucky.
But when it comes to which horror doll made the most money at the box office, then Annabelle is clearly on top! Even if you don’t count her cameo appearance in the creepy superhit The Conjuring, her three solo films alone have grossed a whopping $800 million for Warner Bros. studios:
- “Annabelle”: $257 million in 2014
- “Annabelle 2”: $306 million in 2017
- “Annabelle 3”: $231 million in 2019
Tele 5 will broadcast the start of the series ‘Annabelle’ on free TV tonight from 10 p.m. If you prefer to see the film without commercials, it is also currently available as a Blu-ray on Amazon for around eight euros:

The History of the Horror Doll
After the shocking “Conjuring – The Visitation” about the demonology couple Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) hit like a bombshell in the summer of 2013, those responsible seized the moment – and just one year later it already has. happened. released the first spin-off about the horror doll Annabelle kept in the Warrens’ evidence room!
In “Annabelle” the history of the doll is told – and that’s why the film is also set in the 1960s: when the future doctor John Form (Ward Horton) and his pregnant wife Mia (Annabelle Wallis) are attacked one night in their home by two mad satanists, the couple happily with minor injuries thereof. As a result, inexplicable events keep happening – and even after a move, the specter doesn’t stop. While ghosts usually haunt a special place, demons also cling to objects – for example, a doll like Annabelle, which John gave to his lover some time ago…
Generic, but also damn effective
As far as the story goes, Annabelle really holds no surprises – a paint-by-numbers demon scary movie. But that’s not so bad in this case, because the atmosphere is good and the shock effects are there!
Director John R. Leonetti (“Lullaby”) simply has a knack for staging even supposedly simple shocks with such skill that even the most savvy horror viewer will shiver. And that, although “Annabelle” with an almost ridiculously low budget of only five million dollars cost considerably less than “The Conjuring – Eine Heimsuchung”, which was also produced surprisingly cheaply.
