DC Masterplan finally revealed: new Superman, new Batman and much, much more!

There is currently a huge upheaval taking place at comics giant DC. While the contiguous DCEU as we know it will end with the four movies to come: Shazam 2: Fury Of The Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2, a vast new DC universe that extends not only to film but also to series and video games. The newly crowned bosses of the newly formed DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, announced this a few weeks ago.

Now The Suicide Squad and Guardians Of The Galaxy mastermind James Gunn has kept his promise and has finally worked out what the first phase of this new plan will look like. Because just like the MCU from competitor Marvel, the new DCU will also be divided into phases, which are called chapters here. The first of these chapters will be titled “Gods & Monsters” and is expected to hit theaters in 2025 and before that in the series.

In a video, Gunn revealed no less than ten brand new projects (five films and five series) starring many iconic DC heroes that await us in the next eight to ten years, while also emphasizing that this will only be part of the first chapter and not the full stage. Below we give you an overview of the films and series.

Here are the new DC movies:

“Superman: Legacy”

The previously teased new Superman movie will be titled “Superman: Legacy” and will announce the new DCU on the big screen on July 11, 2025 (US launch) (but there should already be two DCU series before that, see below ). ). Even though we’re getting a new, younger Superman here, it’s not meant to be a revamped Origin story about the Man of Steel. Instead, we get to see Superman trying to balance his Kryptonian heritage and his human upbringing. James Gunn will write and possibly direct the screenplay himself. However, the latter is not set in stone yet.

“The authorities”

With “The Authority” we are dealing directly with an ensemble film about a group of superhumans who resort to all kinds of unorthodox means to save the world. As in some other projects, this should not be about the classic fight between good and evil, but many shades of gray based on the group’s questionable methods.

“The Brave and the Bold”

Behind “The Brave And The Bold” is a new Batman movie, which will not only revolve around the Dark Knight (embodied by a new, as-yet-undisclosed actor), but an entire Bat family. This includes Robin, who will celebrate his comeback to the live-action screen nearly 30 years after the much-maligned “Batman & Robin.” In this version, Damian Wayne is behind the mask of the sidekick whom Gun has described as his favorite Robin, “an asshole”, and “a killer”. Since Damian is Bruce Wayne’s son, whom he knew nothing about for a long time, their father-son relationship plays a central role in the film.

“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”

In the DCU, Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, will also make her leap to the big screen. In “Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow”, the main focus should be on the difference between Superman and Supergirl. While one was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents, the other grew up on a rock not far from devastated Krypton and spent the first 14 years of her life watching everyone around her die or be brutally crushed. murdered.

“Swamp Thing”

After the failed series “Swamp Thing” from 2019, the monster from the swamp should now get its own movie, which should come along as a real horror shocker and thus demonstrate the diversity of the DCU. The dark origins of the cartoon character need to be explored. And for those worried that this different approach means Swamp Thing will become more detached from the rest of the DCU, Gunn has already given it all-clear: the character will definitely join the other DC characters as well. add.

These are the new DC series:

“Creature Commandos”

Things get especially crazy in the “Creature Commandos” animated series, which will tie in in some ways with James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad”. In any case, the Weasel known from the crazy anti-hero blockbuster should play a central role here, just like Rick Flag’s father. Gunn, who has already written every episode of the first season himself, also promised that the actors and actresses who will lend their voices to the characters in the upcoming series will also perform them on camera in the DCU at a later date.

“catfish”

As the title suggests, Waller is a spin-off series about ruthless Suicide Squad boss Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). But that’s not all: with James Gunn having his hands full with “Superman: Legacy” and thus no time (for now) for the second season of “Peacemaker”, “Waller” will be a kind of backup sequel to the critically acclaimed “Suicide”. Squad “offshoots.” So “Team Peacemaker” will also appear here, as Gunn revealed. He left it open whether he also meant Peacemaker (John Cena) himself or just his comrades-in-arms. Both “Creature Commandos” and “Waller” would precede “Superman : Legacy” should appear, making Peter Safran a sort of “appetizer” for the DCU on the home screen.

“lanterns”

For a long time new films and series were planned about the various incarnations of DC hero Green Lantern. Now it is finally done. The main characters of the “Lanterns” series are the two most famous members of the Green Lantern Corps: Hal Jordan (who was played by Ryan Reynolds in the 2011 movie “Green Lantern”) and John Stewart, who plays a central role in a mystery. in preparing the DCU’s overarching storyline. Safran has already described the project as a “massive HBO quality event” that will be similar to the prestigious crime series True Detective.

“Lost paradise”

With the recent cancellation of Wonder Woman 3, Paradise Lost is the series most likely to fill the gap, exploring the political intrigue of all-female society on the mythical island of Themyscira before Wonder Woman herself is born. Safran and Gunn have already drawn comparisons to the hit series Game Of Thrones due to the nature of the project

“Booster Gold”

“Booster Gold” should eventually become a full-blooded comedy project within the DCU. Little known to the general public but a favorite of comic book fans, the title character, whose real name is Mike Carter, is a 25th century former football star who travels back in time using technologies from the future to impersonate a superhero. .
