Tired of John Wayne’s (“True Grit”) reactionary sense of justice? You don’t feel like Western cinema is simply defined as a boring homeland movie? Instead, you like dirty, immoral and, at best, bloody too? Then Amazon Prime Video will probably put a smile on your face. There are now more than 30 (!) Italo-Westerns subscribed to the streaming service, which even the biggest fans of the genre may not necessarily be familiar with.
Before we present you with the full list of westerns, we want to point out a few highlights.
Klaus Kinski and more tough guys
Get started “The man with the bullet whip“ by Mario Caiano from 1973. Everything revolves around the great karate fighter Chin Hao (Chen Lee), who, however, cannot bend a hair. Wanting to be a cowboy, he travels to the Wild West, where he soon causes a stir with his skills. Soon he is a thorn in the side of gangsters and must be eliminated. Also on board: Klaus Kinski.

of “Sartana – Still warm and already sanded“ do you expect an Italian thriller that is worth it just because of the grandiose title. Here we meet the gunfighter Sartana (played this time by Gianno Garko) who has had enough of killing innocent civilians in the Wild West. When he witnesses a murder, he makes his way to the victim’s hometown to solve the heinous crime. However, that is not so easy, because in the small desert town almost everyone is suspect, since everyone benefits from the dead.

In “Kill Django“, which of course has nothing to do with “Django” by Sergio Corbucci, we meet a true western legend in Tomás Milán. Here he takes on the role of the stranger (or Django in German) bent on revenge after being betrayed by an accomplice in a gold heist. After being restored to a native tribe, he leaves and finds himself in a city steeped in chaos and brutality. The brutality of the local people is overwhelming. However, Django knows that his gold is in town…

Ken Dakota (Spiros Focas) joins in “hate your neighbor” out for cold revenge. His brother Bill was brutally hunted down and killed by gunfighter Gary Stevens (George Eastman). In reality, however, Ken is not only interested in revenge, but also in a secret map that points the way to a hidden gold mine. The cunning banker Malone (Horst Frank) also gets wind of the map and does everything he can to get hold of him…
