Teufel Ultima 40 5.1 set: Powerful sound especially for movie fans
The loudspeakers of the Ultima 40 series are among the bestsellers in the Teufel range and convince with a chic design and a powerful sound. The visual highlight is the two floorstanding loudspeakers, which are over a meter high and provide powerful sounds from the front.
The two bookshelf speakers are meant to be rears, so they should give the spatial sound from behind – and they do. The center speaker is placed in the immediate vicinity of the television, the subwoofer where there is room. The bass cube makes a lot of steam and is surprisingly well differentiated. In this price range, this is quite commendable.
There are a few drawbacks for the center speaker, which cannot go with the other speakers in the set. In home theater use, however, this weakness is negligible, as the central bar is mainly responsible for voices in the dialogues. If you tweak the settings here a bit, the lack of power should be barely noticeable.
What is striking on closer inspection, however, is the poor finish of the speakers. However, the criticism only concerns the case. The drivers and other technical components are in no way inferior to the competition.
In addition, audiophile users should not expect miracles from the Teufel set. The speakers are clearly designed for home cinema and spectacular movie enjoyment and less for detailed sound images of an orchestra. But if you like to party in the living room and want to make the walls vibrate with a solid bass, then this set will not disappoint.
